3B8    - Slavo, SP2JMB and Dorota,  SP2TO  will  be  active  as  3B8GY  from
         Mauritius Island (AF-049) on 5-25 February. They  will  be  QRV  on
         all HF bands using CW, SSB and RTTY, and will  participate  in  the
         ARRL DX CW Contest. QSL via SP2JMB. [TNX OPDX Bulletin]
3C0    - Elmo, EA5BYP and Javier, EA5KM have announced plans  to  be  active
         from  Annobon  Island  (AF-039)  in  February-March  (dates  to  be
         determined). They will travel to  Malabo  (Bioko  Island,  AF-010),
         Equatorial Guinea around mid-February and possibily be active  from
         there as 3C6A.  They  will  purchase  "all  needed  provisions"  in
         Malabo,  and  then  they  will  travel  to  Annobon  along  with  a
         "representative from the Ministry". While on the island  they  will
         be signing 3C0E on 160-6 metres CW, SSB  and  RTTY.  QSL  for  both
         callsigns direct to EA5BYP. The log will be  uploaded  to  LoTW  "a

4U1ITU - The International Amateur Radio Club  at  ITU  HQ  in  Geneva  will
         operate with special callsign 4U1WRC until 17 February, during  the
         World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-12).  Operations  will  be
         on 160-6 metres all modes. Expect activity  during  this  weekend's
         160m contest. QSL via the HB9 bureau or direct to  IARC,  P.O.  Box

6Y     - Gerhard, OE3GEA will be active as OE3GEA/6Y5 from Jamaica  (NA-097)
         on 2-12 February. He will operate holiday  style,  mainly  CW.  QSL

CE     - Marco, CE1TBN will be active as CE1TBN/7 from  Las  Huichas  Island
         (SA-064) on 18-20 February. He will operate SSB and some CW on  20,
         15 and 10 metres only. QSL via home call. [TNX islandchaser.com]
FJ     - JA1MZL and JJ1LIB  will  be  active  as  TO3J  from  St  Barthelemy
         (NA-146) on 1-6 February. They will operate CW,  SSB  and  RTTY  on
         80-6 metres. QSL via JA1HGY, direct or bureau  (OQRS  through  Club
         Log).
FW     - FW0NAR is the callsign to be used by  Laci,  HA0NAR  and  his  wife
         Susanne (the third team  member,  HA0DU,  cannot  join  them)  from
         Wallis Island (OC-054) [425DXN 1078]. The expected  QRV  dates  are
         28 January-20 February, with a side trip to Futuna Island  (OC-118)
         originally planned for 5-10 February with the  callsign  TW0F.  QSL

HS     - Eddy, ON4AFU (www.on4afu.net) is currently active as HS0ZJF/8  from
         Koh Samui (AS-101). On 5-14 February look for  him  to  be  signing
         again HS0ZJF/8 from Koh Butang (AS-126), while  on  16-25  February
         he will operate as XU7AFU from  Kampang  Song,  Cambodia.  QSL  via
         home call, direct or bureau.
KG4    - Expect quite a bit of activity to take place  from  Guantanamo  Bay
         bewteen early February and early March as follows:
         4-18 Feb      KG4KL (op. KN4KL) SSTV, RTTY, SSB, PSK, maybe CW
         6-14 Feb      KG4DL (op. WB4DNL) mostly CW
         6-23 Feb      KG4WV (op. W4WV) SSB, PSK, RTTY, maybe CW
         18-25 Feb     KG4AS (op. N4SIA) SSB, RTTY, PSK and CW
         25 Feb-3 Mar  KG4OS (op. KD4OS) CW and SSB
         25 Feb-10 Mar KG4SS (op. K4MIL) RTTY, CW and SSB

PY     - Celebrating the Brazilian Amateur Radio League's 78th  anniversary,
         the Federal LABRE station (PT2AA) will be active using the  special
         callsign ZY78AA on 1-29 February. Also  expect  special  operations
         by LABRE stations in the  various  States  to  take  place  on  1-5
         February. All of the QSOs will be confirmed automatically  via  the

TR     - Sebastien, F4EIH  will  be  in  Gabon  for  at  least  three  years
         starting on 1 February. He plans to operate SSB, PSK31 and JT65  on
         the HF and VHF (EME  and  Satellite)  bands.  [TNX  F6AJA  and  Les

V3     - Alexandra, DO5ALX (V31RU) and Torsten  DG7RO  (V31TF)  plan  to  be
         active from Belize on 4-26 February. They plan  to  concentrate  on
         30, 17 and 12 metres RTTY and SSB, and to take part in  the  CQ  WW
         WPX RTTY Contest as a Multi-Two entry. QSL via home calls.
V6     - William, V63YWR, is a new  operator  resident  on  Federai  Island,
         Ulithi Atoll (OC-078), Micronesia. "He uses  amateur  radio  mainly
         for family phone patches with AH7G in Hawaii",  9M6DXX  says,  "but
         will happily exchange reports in a  relaxed  fashion  (not  pile-up
         style) with callers after the phone patch business is  over.  There
         are apparently no telephone lines  on  the  island  and  the  local
         inhabitants cannot afford to  use  satellite  phones".  At  present
         V63YWR runs 100 watts into a long wire, "but the KH6s are  shipping
         out a Hexbeam for him to improve his signal". AH7G will be  getting
         QSL cards printed for V63YWR later.

CQ WW 160-METER DX CONTEST  (CW)  --->  Objective  of  the  contest  is  for
amateurs around the world to work as many US States,  Canadian provinces and
countries  as possible on 160 metres CW (cq160.com/rules.htm). The following
stations have announced their participation in this year's event (from 22.00
UTC on 27 January through 22.00 UTC on the 29th):

CLIPPERTON  2012  CANCELLED  --->  The  10-15  March  TX5Q   operation  from
Clipperton Island [425DXN  1072)  has  been  cancelled,  "due  to  unforseen
problems with logistics and costs.  We  will  plan  to  carry  out  a  major
DXpedition to Clipperton in  early  2013.  If  you  are  interested  in  the
project, please contact KK6EK at cordell.org".

DX UNIVERSITY ---> The first session of DX University  (DXU),  twin  to  the
very successful Contest University (CTU), will be held on 20  April  at  the
Holiday Inn in Visalia, California. Among the  lecturers  are  AA7A,  G3SXW,
K4UEE, K9LA, N7NG, W3UR, W6OAT,  W9KNI  and  XE1KK.  Learn  the  secrets  of
operating techniques for working DX,  optimizing  stations  &  antennas  for
DXing, about propagation, information sources, awards,  and  ethics,  remote
operating, QSLing and much more. You will also get the  DXpeditioner's  view
of how DXers should operate to get into the log. Over half  of  the  limited
student places have already been reserved since  Registrations  opened  only

LOTW & CQ AWARDS ---> The ARRL and CQ  Communications,Inc.  have  signed  an
agreement to begin providing support for CQ-sponsored  operating  awards  by
the ARRL's Logbook of the World electronic confirmation system. CQ's  awards
will be the first non-ARRL awards supported by LoTW and will be  phased  in,
beginning with the CQ WPX award.  Additional  CQ  awards  will  follow.  The
target date for beginning LoTW support for WPX is  1  April  2012.  Amateurs
will be able to use LoTW logs to generate lists of confirmed contacts to  be
submitted for WPX credit. Standard LoTW credit fees and CQ award  fees  will
apply.

QSL 3B8FA ---> Patrice "Pat" Momple, 3B8FA has  been  inactive  for  a  long
time and is now QRV again. He has chosen Buzz, NI5DX, as  his  QSL  manager.
He will be able to confirm only contacts made with  3B8FA  from  23  January
2012 onward. Buzz will be designing a card and having it  printed;  it  will
take about 5 weeks for him to receive the cards from the printer.  [TNX  The
