official name for the ARRL newly born department that combines most functions
of the former Membership Services Department and Field and Educational
Services [425DXN 821]. The MVP manager is Dave Patton, NN1N.

DXCC NEWS ---> The VU7LD operation from the Lakshadweep Islands (1-30
December 2006) has been approved for DXCC credit. [TNX NC1L]

LAKSHADWEEPS 2007 ---> VU7RG  went QRT at  18.30 UTC on  24 January, after  9
days and 92,134 QSOs (65.1% CW, 29.1 SSB, 5.1 RTTY) made from the islands of
Agatti, Bangaram and Kadmat (all of them are AS-011 for IOTA). The VU7RG logs
can be found at http://www.dx-pedition.de/lakshadweep2007/logs/logsearch.php
(logs are in the process of being checked). The band and continent breakdowns
are as follows (full statistics for VU7RG are now available at
http://www.dx-pedition.de/lakshadweep2007/operations/statistics.html):

VU7MY remained active from Minicoy (AS-106) until around 15.30 UTC on 30
January, with a total of about 17,000 QSOs. The QSL routes for VU7MY are the
same as for VU7RG; according to the expedition website (www.vu7.in) on-line
logs will be published sometime in February.

LX6 ---> Effective 1 January 2007, this is the prefix for the new "Novice"
licence class in Luxembourg. LX6 licencees are allowed to operate on 160, 80,
15 and 10 metres with 100 watts. The first licence has been issued to
operator Lin, LX6K. Full information on the LX prefixes can be found at
http://www.rlx.lu/lx_prefix_assignment.htm [TNX LX1KQ]

QSL 4O3T ---> The last problem QSLs were sorted out this past week and should
reach their destinations by 15 February at the latest. It was also noted that
an unknown volume of direct requests were lost in the postal system somewhere
along the way. Over the next ten months the direct QSLing phase will continue
through sub-QSL managers: John, N7CQQ (USA & Canada); Martti, OH2BH (Japan
and Asia); Hans, PB2T (Europe and the rest of the world). By the end of 2007
the rest will be released for distribution via the worldwide bureau network.
QSL YT6A via YU1FW. [TNX OH2BH]

QSL J79XBI ---> Please note that the QSL route for contacts made between 16
January 2007 and 16 April 2007 is via Leif, SM0FWW, direct or bureau
(SM0XBI/SM7XBI is the QSL manager for past operations).

QSL TG9AKH ---> Petr, OK1DOT reports he is now the QSL manager for Mario,
TG9AKH. QSL direct only to Petr Gustab, P.O. Box 52, Cesky Brod 282 01, Czech
Republic. Other stations served by Petr include 3W3W, 9V1GO, HK1AR , NH6P,
NL7G, WP3F, XV1X, YB5AQB, YI9CC and ZS6CCY.

QSL YX0A/YX0LIX ---> Steve, KU9C says that about 70% of the direct cards have
been mailed. There is stills a large pile of cards that include QSOs that are
not in log (it seems there were at least two major "slim" runs, one on 15
metres and one on 80 metres), requests for /mm cards, requests for YX0A
and/or YX0LIX and other cards that he manages. Steve has not started bureau
cards yet, and won't for some time. "I apologize for the slow delivery of
these cards", he says, "My hope was to be able to mail these a long time ago,
when I had some slack time in my schedule, but the process 'came together'
just as some hectic work and personal commitments came into my schedule".

+ SILENT KEYS + Peter McKay, G3WQU passed away in Lebanon on 28 January.
While working for the United Nations, he operated as E4/G3WQU, CN2PM, S07PM
and 4W3CW.
Patrick de Verteuil, HH7PV died of a heart attack on 13 January. He lived in
Haiti for 34 years and gave many DXers their first QSO with that Country.. He
was also very active on 6 metres.
