RA36GS will be active between the 23rd of April and 22nd of May 2017.

The call sign was issued to commemorate 140th annyversary of Georgy Sedov who was born on the 23rd of April 1877. Sedov was the well known Russian hydrographer and Arctic explorer.
He was born in the fisherman's family, became a Navy officer, a member of Russian Geographical society, an honorary member of Russian society for astronomy. Sedov was a participant of numerous expeditions to places like Vaygach island, entry of river Kara. Novaja Zemlia island, Karsoje and Caspian seas. He was the organizer of the expedition to North Pole and died on the 20th of February 1914 at the age of 36.
